Two people were seriously injured after sustaining shooting wounds to the neck

As reported by USA Today, an investigation is underway after at least one gunman was involved in a shooting that occurred in the United States on Sunday.

It has been reported that at least twelve people sustained injuries, two of which are seriously injured after being shot in the neck.

The shooting occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at a gathering of up to 200 people at the riverfront in Peoria, Illinois.

US publication TIME reports that Lt. Jared Ginglen of the Peoria Police Department said that nobody injured has received life threatening injuries.

According to Peoria Police spokeswoman, Amy Dotson, up to 200 people were gathered at the riverfront.

Ms Dotson added that out of those injured, two were transported to an area hospital by ambulance and ten were transported via private vehicle.

No suspect information is currently available, and the incident is under investigation.
